The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines brownfields as “real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.” Brownfields are sites of old factories or businesses and are many times unsightly and strewn with illegally dumped garbage.

Bridgeview & Toyota Park Celebrate the 71st Street Grade Separation Opening!

Getting to Toyota Park this year will be a smooth ride thanks to the reopening of 71st Street. This Grade Separation significantly reduces traffic delays and improves safety for businesses, residents and soccer fans. 71st Street is a four-lane urban collector street with an industrial park to the south, Toyota Park Sports Stadium to the north and residential neighborhoods to the southeast. Funding for this nearly $30 million project came from both federal and state transportation programs – CREATE (Chicago Regional Environmental and Transportation Efficiency), TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) and Illinois Jobs Now.

A dilapidated, malfunctioning, out-of-date lift station in Olympia Fields was causing mechanical operations problems for the village. The 40-year-old station was located in a floodplain, and so was difficult to rebuild without impacting sensitive environmental areas.

Robinson Engineering just celebrated the opening of its 8th office location, on January 31, which comes on the heels of the firm’s successful 75th anniversary celebration. The office grand opening celebration was launched with a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 29 and concluded with a networking Meet-N-Greet Reception at Medinah Country Club, on January 31. Robinson’s Executive Vice President, Aaron Fundich, PE, said: “As new partners to the DuPage County area, we will assist local communities in planning for the impact of the Elgin-O’Hare Western Access project, as well as ongoing water, wastewater and stormwater needs.
